ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Aspiring Rockford art students were able to get some much-needed recognition at the 78th Young Artist Show Sunday.
Teachers submitted almost 1,000 pieces made by students for consideration by judges. Those judges picked 137 works of art, representing 90 students.
Teachers say it's a real mark of success as an artist to be chosen to be on display. The gallery is sponsored by Alpine Kiwanis, Meemic and Women's Art Board.
"It's very rewarding to see them achieve something and be recognized. It's one thing for me to say you're doing a great job and give them a grade, but then for other people to recognize what they're doing makes it worth it for me and for them as well, I think,” said Guilford High School art teacher Lisa Doll.
That exhibit will stay up through March 31 at RAM. That's inside the Riverfront Museum Park at 711 North Main Street in downtown Rockford.
