FBI, Secret Service speak with Minocqua Brewing Company owner following social media post
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The FBI and Secret Service spoke with the owner of Minocqua Brewing Company after a social media post was made following the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Minocqua Brewing Company Owner Kirk Bangstad said Thursday that he had been contacted by the FBI and Secret Service.
The U.S. Secret Service and FBI released a joint statement outlining their response to the post.
“The U.S. Secret Service follows up on perceived threats against the President of the United States or any one of our protectees. The FBI and Secret Service together followed up on information received and conducted further investigative steps, which included a voluntary interview with the individual. This is an ongoing matter and we do not have further comment,” the agencies stated.
In the post from April 25 on the Minocqua Brewing Company’s Facebook page, Bangstad wrote, “Well, we almost got #FreeBeerDay. Either a brother or sister in the resistance needs to work on their marksmanship or he faked another assassination to get a positive news cycle.”
Earlier this week, the Wisconsin Department of Justice said they do not confirm or deny the existence of the investigations.
