ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - This weekend, the UW Health Sports Factory is hosting one of the most high level and fast paced sporting events you might not expect, the 2025 National Collegiate Table Tennis Championships.

Nearly 250 student athletes from more than 50 colleges and universities have gathered in Rockford, representing 25 different countries.

Over the course of three days, players have competed in singles, doubles, and team matches, all with national titles on the line.

“It’s just a lot of fun,” says tournament director Willy Leparulo, “These kids have grown up and they’ve been playing since I don’t know, they were probably ten and now they get to play in college, and even beyond that. We have a lot of National team and Olympic team players here, this is absolutely phenomenal.”

This marks the tournament’s return to Rockford for the first time since 2013. The Rockford Area Convention & Visitors Bureau estimates the event will bring an economic impact of nearly $480,000 to the region.

The competition wraps up Sunday, April 6, with championship matches to decide the nation’s top players.
