Olson Funeral and Cremation Services acquires Winnebago funeral home

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Olson Funeral and Cremation Services in Rockford will take over Genandt Funeral Home, 602 N. Elida St., Winnebago.

Genandt Funeral Home has been in business since 1974. The move marks an expansion for Olson and the Olson family says it will continue Genandt’s tradition of supporting northern Illinois families during times of loss.

“We are so honored that Lyndon Genandt chose Olson’s to carry on his family’s legacy,” said Olson Funeral and Cremation Services President Scott Olson in a news release.

Olson Funeral and Cremation will now operate six locations. Olson’s other five locations are:

• 1001 2nd Ave., Rockford
• 2811 N. Main St., Rockford
• 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore
• 309 S. Fifth St., Kirkland
• 201 E. Main St., Genoa
