ROCKFORD (WIFR) – After four decades of service, a Rockford restaurant is being honored by the state.
The Illinois Office of Tourism presented the Stockholm Inn with the Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination Award.
State tourism leaders say the Swedish restaurant on Charles Street is authentically Illinois. It’s one of five in the state to get a window cling that lets diners know of the state designation.
"We've got many, many attractions here in the community and they enjoy coming to a restaurant that's got a great heritage as well. And we're proud of the visitors and convention bureau and the great job they do promoting our community,” said Lingonberry Group President Dennis Johnson.
The Stockholm Inn has been open since 1968. The owner says it serves up over 2,500 breakfasts each weekend.
