ROCKFORD (WIFR) -- The first-time recipients of the Winnebago County Renewable Energy Expo Leadership by Example recognition awards were announced during a news conference on Thursday, October 17, at the County Administration building, 404 Elm Street in Rockford.
Chairman Scott Christiansen recognized local organizations utilizing renewable energy initiatives, from wind and solar power to waste-to-energy practices and renewable energy building integration, for being leaders in renewable energy and energy efficiency in Winnebago and Boone counties.
The 36 designated organizations will be recognized again at the Winnebago County Renewable Energy Expo at Rockford's Klehm Arboretum on November 8, 2013. The expo is the first of its kind for Winnebago County. Expo attendees will learn about renewable energy options and funding, network with industry experts and local businesses already utilizing renewable energy practices, and gain a better understanding how renewable energy practices can be applied in the real world. Winnebago County, along with Freedom Field, Illinois Renewable Energy Association and Rock Valley College, are presenting the event.
