GiGi's Playhouse Expanding

ROCKFORD (WIFR) – Five years after GiGi’s Playhouse opened its doors near the former Machesney Park mall, it’s now expanding to serve more people with Down Syndrome in our area.

One of the main goals of the expansion is creating independence through the launch of GiGi University. It allows those with Down Syndrome to learn how to live on their own by building job and communication skills. The classes will begin in February. Rockford is one of four cities in the nation to offer this type of program.

Whitney’s Cheer Team will be showing off their routine Sunday night at Harlem High School for a special fundraiser.
GiGi’s Cheer Gems will perform at 4:00 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door beginning at 3:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $2 for children, $5 for students and seniors, and $8 for adults (cash only). There will also be a silent auction at the event as well (cash only). 100% of the proceeds will be donated to GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford.
