ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) This past season forever changed the path for Fred VanVleet. The Rockford native made the most of his added minutes and while this is his offseason, the Sixth Man of the Year finalist is not taking his foot off the gas.
VanVleet was at the UW Health Sports Factory Thursday morning to promote the FVV Fan Fest and Summer Camp which is set for June 22-24.
The Auburn grad is coming off of his second season in the NBA where he averaged more than eight points and three assists per game. Vanvleet also led Toronto shooting more than 41 percent from three.
But his breakout year may take FVV away from the Raptors and a move may be in the works.
"Just to take that jump from undrafted to not really playing to boom now you're considered one of the best sixth men in the league, it's just a testament to the work that I put in and it's nice to get the love and respect," said VanVleet. "I wish things would have ended a little bit differently but I take it on the chin and I'll get ready for next year. Hopefully free agency shakes out and I find a home and move my family there and get situated that way in July and August."
