After leading Hononegah to back-to-back NIC-10 titles, senior quarterback Ryan VanSchelven picked the University of Dayton to continue his playing career.
As a starter with the Indians, VanSchelven went 18-0 in regular season conference play and was named the NIC-10 Offensive MVP in 2018.
In his final year, VanSchelven threw for 1,688 yards, 18 touchdowns and four interceptions. He led the conference with the best TD-INT ratio.
"It means the world to me," said VanSchelven. "Growing up I had two dreams and that was playing Hononegah football and to get a chance to play college football. For the University of Dayton to give me this opportunity when there honestly weren't many other opportunities so I can't thank that coaching staff enough for just giving me a chance. That's all I've been asking for and it's all I've been working for and I'm really excited to become a Flyer."
