ROCHESTER, Min. (WIFR) Rock Valley took the long road and won three games on Saturday to win the program's sixth straight national championship.
After losing to Herkimer in the semifinals on Friday, the Golden Eagles had to play in the consolation semis against #2 Brookdale. RVC took care of business, beating the Jersey Blues 4-2, setting up a rematch with the Generals for the title.
Rock Valley put a beat down on Herkimer in Game One 21-6 to force a winner-take-all championship game.
RVC took advantage of a couple Herkimer errors in the fourth and scored four runs. Breanna Crown made that lead hold up as the sophomore went seven innings, striking out six and allowing just one run. Crown was named the tournament MVP.
The Golden Eagles became the first team at any level in junior college to win six consecutive national championships.
