ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) A month after lifting up its sixth straight national championship, Rock Valley celebrated its latest trophy.
The Golden Eagles captured the title after beating Herkimer 6-1 in the final game.
RVC tied a school record with 57 wins this season and the sophomore class leaves after tying the two-year record with 109 victories.
Head coach Darin Monroe says he does not really have time to think about all of the accomplishments over the years because the focus now is getting number seven.
"This happened a month ago but the opportunity to get back with our kids and to really celebrate something that we accomplished this year is incredible," said Monroe. "I'm just really proud of them. This team was battle tested. This team worked really hard to get to where they were. We battled some adversity at the national tournament and had an opportunity to bring home that sixth straight national championship and putting ourselves in the NJCAA record book is surreal."
