Rock Valley searching for new head coaches

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) There are not a lot of JUCOs with the championship pedigree that Rock Valley College has and just one year after hiring head coaches for the men's and women's basketball programs, the Golden Eagles are searching once again.

Both Tim Sandquist and Taylor Ignoto are leaving Rockford after their first seasons in charge of RVC.

Sandquist is becoming the head coach of reigning division two national champion Kirkwood in Iowa and Ignoto plans to go back to NCAA Division I.

Athletic director Darin Monroe is now tasked with finding a pair of coaches for two teams which have won a combined six national titles since 2012 and he says the candidate pool is filled with quality.

"With the history of RVC basketball on the men's and women's sides, the national championships, the facility and the city of Rockford, people are seeing that this is an opportunity for them that they can come in and win, they can win at a high level and they can win at a national level," said Monroe. "We've got some really good candidates that we're really excited to pursue and I can tell you that the future of RVC women's and men's basketball is very strong and were going to get a coach in here that's going to continue the tradition of excellence that we have established."
