ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) Rock Valley men's basketball will be returning to the NJCAA DIII National Championship Tournament for the first time since winning it all in 2016.
The 23-6 Golden Eagles open up the quarterfinals on Thursday against Bunker Hill.
"There's no pressure at all," said sophomore guard and Lutheran grad Josh Streeter. "We knew from day one meeting each other and we spoke it into existence that we were going to win a national championship."
RVC went to the national tournament from 2013 to 2016 and won two titles during that span.
"I'm just excited to be there, to be a part of that and to get this program back on track and where it should be," said sophomore forward Brandon Taylor. "The banners are up here for a reason and we want to lay down the foundation and get that back on track."
The tournament is being held in Rochester, Minnesota and RVC will take on the Bulldogs Thursday at 5 p.m.
