Regents roll past MacMurray College for season-opening win

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) The Regents have already matched their win total from a year ago with a 35-12 beat down of MacMurray College in the season opener.

Rockford University ran the ball 60 times for 265 yards. LaVar Johnson led the Regents with 112 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns.

Marengo alum Eric Mackey did it with his arm and his legs. The quarterback finished with a net of 34 yards rushing and 188 yards passing, including a touchdown pass to Christian Life product Adam Ambrogio.

RU has a home-heavy start to its ten-game schedule with four of the first five at Sam Greeley Field.

Rockford hosts Martin Luther next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
