RACVB to host NBA Finals watch party Monday

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- With Rockford native Fred VanVleet and the Toronto Raptors one win away from a NBA championship, tbe Rockford Area Visitors & Conventions Bureau will turn the Rockford City Market Pavilion into Jurassic Park RKFD starting Monday.

If you have watched any of the NBA playoffs, you have seen the television cameras cut away to shots of crowds in the streets watching their team. In Toronto, Jurassic Park is known as the gathering place for Raptors fans to come and watch the game outside the Scotiabank Arena on a projector screen.

Jurassic Park RKFD will look to replicate that atmosphere on Monday. It will be located at the corner of East State and Water Street. There will be a jumbo screen airing Game Five, as well as the FVV Shop Pop-Up Store, food and beverage trucks, and a pre-game DJ party. The event is free to the public.

The Auburn grad led the Knights take third in Class 4A back in 2012 and has helped the Raptors to a 3-1 series lead against the Golden State Warriors.
