ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) Nothing is a given and while some may look at Harlem as the favorites to win a third straight state championship, you cannot overlook a young Freeport squad which has finished in the top 10 five years in a row.
Like the huskies, the Pretzels have plenty of state experience in juniors Bailey Busker and Skye Endress.
The pair is making its third trip to the biggest meet of the season and they no longer want to be looked at as the underdogs.
They say if they want to be one of the teams fighting for a title on Saturday, they are going to have to keep focused.
"I think expectations are to get all the pins that you leave or most of the pins that you can leave and be confident in yourself and just hit your target," said Busker. "If you don't, just go and pick it up like it's nothing."
"Treat it as any normal tournament," said Endress. "Don't treat it as something big and you have to do good. Just make sure that you're keeping up with the other teams and if not, like my coach says, rolling over them, plowing over them, running over them."
