NIU introduces Hammock as new football coach

DEKALB, Ill. (WIFR) Northern Illinois introduced former Huskies running back Thomas Hammock as its next head football coach on Friday.

Hammock, 37, spent the last five years in Baltimore as the running backs coach. He led a Ravens rushing attack which was second best in the NFL this past season, averaging more than 150 yards per game.

Hammock played at NIU from 1999 to 2002 and ran for 2,432 yards, which is the 13th most in school history.

Since finishing up his playing career, Hammock has coached at NIU, Wisconsin and Minnesota as an assistant.
