Lena-Winslow captures third regional in 30 years

PEARL CITY, Ill. (WIFR) Lena-Winslow won its third regional championship in the last 30 years thanks to a 53-29 victory over Eastland in Pearl City Friday night.

"I thought tonight our kids just stayed focused," said Le-Win head coach Kyle Benson. "We executed our game plan really well. They played in the moment, when things weren't going our way we kind of stayed the course a little bit. As the game went on we got better and better and better and it kind of snowballed. We didn't expect it to go like that. We certainly didn't think it would be the margin that it was."

The Panthers will play Indian Creek in the 1A River Ridge Sectional Semifinals Wednesday at 7 p.m.
