ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- More than a dozen schools from across the state came to Auburn High School for the fourth annual Jerry Lowe indoor boys track and field invite.
It's the first high school track meet of the season as well. Many of the coaches say this is the perfect type of meet to start the season.
It allows coaches to get a few results to see where athletes are at going into the outdoor season.
All eyes were on Rockford Christian's Brad Wood in the pole vault event.
The senior takes second, but puts up a school record with a vault of 12 feet.
"It was my first meet back in two years. I didn't plan on doing well this meet" said Wood. "It actually went really well though. I only had two days of practice. It was a fun practice today."
