Jefferson wins Gold Bracket championship at Chicagoland Summer Showcase

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) It was only fitting to see a Rockford team celebrating and holding a trophy to end a successful first weekend at the Chicagoland Summer Showcase Sunday at Rock Valley College. Jefferson defeated Omaha Benson High School Magnet 66-64 to claim the Gold Bracket championship.

Quay Robinson's layup with one second left was the difference in a game where Jefferson trailed for most of it. With the game tied at 64, Robinson took the ball the length of the court and fought his way through traffic in the lane to get the bucket to seal the win.

The J-Hawks have been battling through injuries all month long, going through the East Summer League without Latrell Graham and La'Juan Morris. Sunday, George Williams went down with an ankle injury, but returned to help Jefferson pull off the comeback.
