IceHogs work out the kinks while finding ways to win

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) Despite a 4-1 loss to open the year in Cleveland, IceHogs head coach Jeremy Colliton said he liked how the team played. Fast-forward a week later and Rockford is starting to find its stride early in the season.

The Hogs enjoyed being back at the BMO Harris Bank Center for the first time in 2018. Rockford scored five goals in each of its two wins. Collin Delia was strong in net, stopping 60 shots in total over the weekend. The Sikura brothers, Tyler and Dylan, also lead the team in points with four each.

"I think we have some of the same qualities but we're not nearly as tight defensively as we were and we're going to need that," said Colliton.

Although the majority of the roster returns from last year's Western Conference Finals appearance, Colliton said the group still needs to gel.

"It's early and we have a young team and we're trying to get some new guys in and understanding how we want to play and that's going to take some time and that's fine. But hopefully, the good sign is, two games in a row, the game was on the line and we found a way to get it done. So hopefully that continues."
