ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) The IceHogs home-opener was one to remember. Rockford scored three times in the third period to help get passed the Texas Stars 5-3 to earn the Hogs' first win of the season.
After trading goals in the second, Rockford entered the final period trailing 3-2. The IceHogs then tilted the ice in their favor and dominated time of possession in the attacking zone in the third.
Matheson Iacopelli was rewarded for his relentlessness after helping the Hogs force a Stars turnover in their own end. Graham Knott found Iacopelli near the right circle and he flicked one past Colton Point to tie the game at three.
Dylan Sikura then scored his first AHL goal when he let a wrister fly under the stick of Point with just under six to left in the contest. His goal turned out to be the game-winner.
Darren Raddysh let one fly from the other side of the ice for the empty net goal with less than two to play.
The IceHogs are back on the ice for a Sunday afternoon game against Hershey. It's the Bears only visit to the BMO Harris Bank Center.
