ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- One way to IceHogs fans can remember a historic season, is buy purchasing game-used items.
That's exactly what people did at the Hogs annual after season "Garage Sale" held at the BMO Harris Bank Center Saturday morning.
Game-worn signed jerseys, player-used hockey sticks, shirts and hats are just a few of the items on sale. Some were discounted as much as 60%.
It was also a chance to reminisce about the 2017-18 season. Rockford's play-by-play announcer Joey Zakrzewski was on-hand helping with the garage sale. He said it was memorable year for everyone involved.
"For myself, for the organization, it was kind of new territory for a lot of different people," said Zakrzewski. "For the fans, they hadn't seen an IceHogs team go this far and battle this much to get to that point."
"And the window was there. I mean, you had a mixture of free agents, and a mixture of veterans, a mixture of Blackhawks prospects and guys coming here in the American Hockey League. You know, the window in the American Hockey League is small for success. When you have a successful team, that means next year you're going to see a lot of those guys make NHL rosters and of course down at the United Center."
