IceHogs can't put away Stars in overtime, trail series 2-0

CEDAR PARK, Tex. (WIFR) -- Chris DiDomenico scored his sixth goal of the postseason on the power play, but it wasn't enough to give the IceHogs the win as Rockford falls to the Stars in overtime 3-2.

Curtis McKenzie scored a power play goal of his own with 9:34 left in the extra session to give Texas a 2-0 series lead.

A normally disciplined team, the Hogs took eight penalties, resulting in a pair of power play goals for the Stars, one of which was the game-winner.

The trio of DiDomenico, Cody Franson and Adam Clendening once again teamed up for Rockford's lone power play tally.

Collin Delia made 34 saves on 37 shots in his second loss these playoffs.

For the second game in a row, the Hogs were outshot in the third period, 12-4. The Stars also put up more shot attempts in overtime, 7-3.

Texas netminder Mike McKenna stopped 24 of the 26 shots he saw. It was the Stars' fifth overtime win this postseason.

The IceHogs return to Rockford for games three and four at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Tuesday, May 22 and Thursday, May 24 at 7:00 p.m. If a Game 5 is necessary, it'll be on Friday, May 25 also a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
