IceHogs' Campbell named AHL All-Star captain

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) The AHL announced its captains for the 2019 All-Star Classic and IceHogs defenseman Andrew Campbell will represent the Western Conference.

Campbell was selected by AHL President David Andrews for the January 28th event in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The 30-year-old has one goal in 24 games this season and has served as one of Rockford's six alternate captains.

"Had it not been for this honor with the way that I play the game and my skill-set and what not, I probably would never have gotten a chance to play," said Campbell. "It will definitely be fun. I'll try not to embarrass myself and do what I can to fit in. It means a lot to me to think back of all the past coaches, trainers and teammates and my friends and family who supported me to play this long and to be able to get an opportunity like this."
