Hooper signs letter of intent to golf at Western Illinois

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) She may go down as one of the best female high school golfers in the Stateline, and now, Lutheran's Natalie Hooper is taking her talents to the next level.

The Lady Crusader made her commitment to Western Illinois University official on Thursday. Hooper qualified for state all four years, winning sectionals as a junior and helping Lutheran to a Class 1A State Runner-Up finish that same year. Hooper said she had no expectations when she was a freshman in high school, but now golfing is all she wants to do.

"I'm just beyond excited, I can't wait. Just even having the chance to play collegiate, especially at the D-1 level, that's been my dream," said Hooper.

"Ever since I picked up a club, I mean, it wasn't really my most favorite thing to do, sometimes I had to be pushed a little bit to get out there, even to play nine holes instead. But as much as I've gotten into it, I've gotten pretty much addicted to it. Just the thrill that you have playing, makes you want to come back and do better."
