Harlem girls feeling the nerves leading up to potential three-peat

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) The Cherry Bowl will once again be packed to the ceiling this weekend for another girls bowling state tournament and for one of the Stateline's teams, it can be historic.

Everyone is looking up at Harlem which is definitely poised to win the state title for the third straight season.

The Huskies return four bowlers who had experience during last year's championship run including individual champ Rebecca Hagerman.

Although many of the Harlem bowlers have competed in big events before, they are still feeling the nerves.

"I feel confident in our abilities, but I'm still a little nervous," said Hagerman. "I'm always nervous going into any tournament so it's nothing but the usual. It's kind of like a habit. I always have nerves going into tournaments and I know with my team behind me and our coaches, we should be good."

"I am very nervous," said senior Kayle Verstraete. "This is my fourth time here and I still get the nerves every time. It's just the biggest stage you bowl on in high school."
