Guilford boys basketball coach placed on leave after DUI charges

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Guilford boys basketball coach Antonio Maestranzi has been put on administrative leave after being arrested earlier this week.

23 News has confirmed that Maestranzi was arrested by the Loves Park Police Department on Jan. 29 on DUI charges.

Rockford Public Schools Communication Coordinator Cathy Bayer has confirmed Maestranzi is on leave effective immediately. Assistant coach Carl Armato will take over as interim head coach.

Maestranzi, who was in his first season as head coach at Guilford, is also a former NIU basketball player.
