ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) You can tell how serious the Gymnastics Academy of Rockford is about winning as soon as you step foot inside. From wall to wall, there are trophies and medals from years past and, in the coming weeks, four girls have the chance to add to all of that gold.
Rockford Christian's Dani Petrousek and Marengo's Reese Samuelson will be at the Junior Olympic National Championships in Indianapolis and Rockford Christian's Kendall Turner and Rockford's Avery Schlichting will be competing in Florida at the Level Nine Eastern Championships.
Petrousek and Samuelson have been to nationals a handful of times before and the Royal Lions junior says the countless hours of repetition are totally worth it.
"It's amazing consistently going because just knowing every hard time in the gym definitely pays off in the end," said Petrousek.
"I'm feeling very good," said Samuelson. "I'm staying calm, practicing my routines and hitting. My first time I think I worried a lot because there's college coaches there sometimes. I got a little worried about it my first time and now I know when I go there I just need to stay calm and not worry about it."
