Forreston proving naysayers wrong

FORRESTON, Ill. (WIFR) For the third time in six seasons, Forreston is one of the final two teams in Class 1A.

The Cardinals have a chance to win their third state title as they take on 12-1 Camp Point Central.

After a mass exodus following a semifinal loss last season including Denny Diduch, Forreston may not have been expected to reach the same heights as in years past, but it proved everybody wrong.

"Honestly it's a great feeling," said senior Cailean Davids. "Nobody thought we were going to be able to do it this year and it was great to come out and show up everybody. At the beginning of the year everybody thought we were going to go 6-3, barely make the playoffs and all of that stuff so it's nice to really show them."

"A lot of people doubted us and that's what we lived on and that's what we thrived on," said senior Garett Badertscher. "It feels great that were back here and to prove the doubters wrong like we did this year, its been awesome."

The Cardinals take on the Panthers at 10 a.m. on Friday down in Champaign.
