ROCHESTER, Min. (WIFR) -- Rock Valley scored five times in the fifth to secure its fifth straight national championship with a 6-2 win over Herkimer.
The Golden Eagles lost to the Generals in Game 1 of the national championship 2-1, forcing a winner-take-all Game 2.
RVC used both of its star pitchers. Breanna Crown went four innings, giving up four hits and two runs. Jordan Hall came in and shut the door on Herkimer. The freshman did not allow a hit in her three innings of work, while striking out two.
Annaka Bartz (3-4, RBI, 2 R) got the scoring started for the Golden Eagles with a solo home run in the first.
After the Generals took the lead in the second, Rock Valley scored five times in the fifth to take the lead for good.
The Golden Eagles are the first softball team in NJCAA Division 3 to win five consecutive national championships.
