FORRESTON, Ill. (WIFR) For a decade Denny Diduch had Forreston as a well-oiled machine winning two state titles over the last four years, but he has moved on and one of the men standing next to him for those victories is looking to bring more of the same.
The Cardinals' former defensive coordinator and current athletic director Kyle Zick now leads the 2017 state semifinalsts.
Forreston was an unbeaten team last season if not for eventual 1A state champs Lena-Winslow, which handed the Cards their only two losses.
While Zick wants to tweak a few things, everyone can expect a similar looking Forreston squad.
"He's great and a lot of fun," said senior lineman Mitchell Heinz. "The whole staff is back so there's really no change at all so that's nice."
"It hasn't been too much of a change for us, it's just a little bit more paperwork on my side," said Zick. "Coach Diduch and I were always working together on most things so transition has been smooth for both myself and our kids. It's just carrying on a tradition. That's what this position is as the Forreston football head coach is carrying on the tradition that's already been set."
