DIXON, Ill. (WIFR) Dixon football has a long history of winning under head coach Dave Smith and the program is coming off of record fifth straight trip to the postseason, and while the journey back is only beginning, the Dukes are all smiles at practice.
Dixon finished off 2018 with a 6-4 record and a first round exit at the hands of Stillman Valley, but everyone is optimistic with the first game just a few weeks away.
Smith says it has to do with the attitude and the work ethic that his players have brought to the new year.
Senior and first team all-conference linebacker Aidan Schmall says the team chemistry is so good because everyone is involved.
"We've all hung out all of us as a group and we don't leave anybody out," said Schmall. "Last couple of years as I've been on varsity, they've talked less and less to the underclassmen, but we try to involve everybody, bring them up, we're high spirited and make them experience it more."
