East boys hoops completes 18-0 NIC-10 season

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) With the NIC-10 basketball schedule being extended to 18 games this season, it made it all that more difficult to run through the conference with an unbeaten record so that is what makes this East year simply incredible.

The E-Rabs defeated Hononegah 83-43 Wednesday night to wrap up the perfect NIC-10 season. East also enters postseason play with a school record 29 wins.

"We thought it was a possibility, but it's one thing to be a possibility and another thing to go out and do it," said head coach Roy Sackmaster. "For us to go out and achieve that, it's a good feeling. We're playing some good basketball here to start, but we're at the point now where we've got the rest of our lives to relish in that and be happy with it. Now we're back on it and we're 0-0 and we've got more business to tend to next week."

The E-Rabs already clinched their first conference crown since 1981.

East opens up the regional in the semifinals on Tuesday against the winner of Jefferson and Guilford.
