DURAND, Ill (WIFR) -- Durand Police Chief Jeff Schelling and High School Principal Michael Leskowich had a simple challenge for the Varsity Girls Volleyball Team. If the team were to win their Sectional game, the four seniors on the team get to pie and dump cold water on each of them.

Today, Jeff and Michael kept their challenge after the team won their Sectional game last night against Newman Central Catholic. The school district had a big celebration, gathering students and faculty from each school for an assembly so everybody could see this in action.

Even though the team had a nice celebration today, their season is not done yet. Having an overall 35-2 record on the season and going 13-0 in conference play, the Varsity Volleyball team has another game tomorrow night. They will face Newark High School in the IHSA Class 1A Super-Sectional at Elgin Westminster High School.

If they win tomorrow night, they advance to the Class 1A IHSA State Semifinals where they would play the winner of Grayville and Father McGivney Catholic High Schools.
