Dakota captured its first conference crown since 2007 by beating Durand 69-32 Friday night.

The Indians finished the regular season at 25-4 with an 11-1 record in the NUIC North.

"It's been a long time and this is a great group to work with," said head coach Mike Bartelt. "They work hard in practice, they work well together and it's been a dream season so far."

Dakota opens up the 1A Polo Regional with Leland on Monday in the quarterfinals.

"It's really exciting," said senior Evan Flynn. "I'm just so happy for the fans in the community and everyone who has supported us this year. It's been a long time coming for us so we're just having a lot of fun."

If the Indians win the regional, they will break the school record of 27 victories in a season.
