Dakota volleyball last NUIC team standing, wins sectional title

PECATONICA, Ill. (WIFR) Dakota outlasted Galena in a nail-biter Wednesday night by winning the 1A Pecatonica Sectional Final 25-23, 24-26, 25-23.

The three-set victory gave the Indians their first sectional since 2014.

"I have no words, honestly. I'm so proud of our team," said junior outside hitter Tabytha Toelke. "I cannot wait for Friday. I can't wait for tomorrow's practice. I'm literally just so amazed right now. I don't know, I'm so excited."

"I told the girls my age the other day, and I told them I just can't take that," said head coach Kim Toelke. "I'm just so proud of them right now. They proved to me that they can do what needs to be done. I'm so glad they get to miss basketball practice for at least one more night."

The Indians will take on Newark at the Aquin Super-Sectional Friday at 7 p.m.
