Dakota outlasts Durand for regional victory

DAKOTA, Ill. (WIFR) Dakota put an end to Durand's three-year run as regional champions with a 23-25, 25-16, 25-22 victory Thursday night.

The Indians won their first regional title since 2016 as they eked it out in the 1A Dakota Regional Final.

"We knew it was do or die and we had to go out right away," said junior Tabytha Toelke. "We had to get a run right away, we couldn't hold back, and we couldn't let them get their run. We had to play our volleyball, we had to have a lot of energy and we just needed to play hard and know we have to win this game."

"We knew we had to be up for this one," said senior Kaylyn Field. "We knew the atmosphere was going to be big and we knew a lot of people were going to be here. We were just up for this one. We knew we just had to pull it out, we couldn't let down after the first set, we knew we just had to come back and we knew we had it in us."
