Everyone has a story as to how they ended up where they are.

For the second year in a row, the Rockford Aarea Conventions and Visitors Bureau hosted Sport Stories featuring those who have made a name for themselves throughout the Stateline.

Hononegah-grad and ESPN anchor Nicole Briscoe got the chance to share her experiences with the community.

The Roscoe native was joined by Olympic bronze medalist Kenny Gould, Rock Valley softball coach Darin Monroe and Rockford Speedway owner Jody Deery.

Briscoe says while it's tough for her to speak in front of crowds or see pictures of her old hairstyles, she credits people like 23 News Director Maggie Hradecky for her rise.

"The foundation was laid here," said Briscoe. "I had incredible mentors who gave me an opportunity to learn and grow. I challenge myself every day and I dove right in and if I didn't have those opportunities, the me standing in front of you does not exist in so many ways. I'm so grateful even if I'm so mortified at the same time."
