Brian Urlacher signs autographs in Rockford, reflects on Hall of Fame induction

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) It's not every day a Hall of Fame athlete makes an appearance in Rockford. Fortunately for Chicago Bears fans, the latest inductee into Canton made a stop in the Forest City on Saturday for a meet and greet.

Dozens of fans wrapped around The Collector's Bench in Downtown Rockford waiting for their chance to see Brian Urlacher. The 2018 Pro Football Hall of Famer signed autographs for nearly two hours.

The eight-time Pro Bowl linebacker said it's been about 15 years since the last time he was in Rockford, but acknowledged it's always nice to get out and interact with Bears nation.

Urlacher is happy he can put the initials HOF at the end of each autograph and reflected on what that weekend in Ohio meant last year.

"It was unreal," said Urlacher. "You know, the weekend went by so fast. Trying to get ready for it was stressful. There's a lot of stuff you have to get ready for that you really don't foresee going into it."

"Once we got there and got the weekend rolling, it was a blast. Once my speech was over, I was relieved. Everything builds up to the speech. You don't want to screw that up. Didn't screw it up too bad, so I'm just happy it's over. I'm happy I'm in. Now I can just enjoy watching the speeches the rest of my life."
