Boylan's Baker, Kennedy sign to play at the next level
Boylan seniors Peyton Kennedy and TJ Baker made their commitments to college official.
Baker is off to SIUE for golf, following in the footsteps of other former Titans golfers Kyle Slattery and Danny Gorman. The 2019 class 2A state champ is glad to finally sign his letter of intent and thanked the two of them for being great mentors.
"I talked to them about the program and they made me really fall in love with the program even more than I did when I went for a visit. It just felt like home," said Baker.
"They're really good guys and I trust them on their decision. I know that hopefully I can help out and hopefully it turns out well because we have great guys on the team and I know we can do big things, so we'll see. You just got to do what you do and hopefully the team comes through as well."
Kennedy will be going a little farther away to play collegiate basketball. The senior made her commitment official to D-1 St. Louis University. She says the Bilikins coaches had scouted her in AAU as well as at Boylan. The Lady Titan will be making a position change at the next level as well, but Kennedy says she's ready for anything.
"I think I've always had a thing for St. Louis, I guess," said Kennedy. "I visited, it was a great school, beautiful campus and it just felt like home."
"Here I play more like center, post, but there at St. Louis, I plan on playing the three. I plan on playing a lot more outside than I did these past three years on varsity. It's exciting. I enjoy the outside a lot. Even though I'm good in the post, the post is where I'm more comfortable, but I like a challenge."
