ROCHELLE, Ill. (WIFR) For the second straight season, Belvidere North girls volleyball won a regional final by taking out Rochelle 25-22, 25-18.
The Blue Thunder won in straight sets over the Hubs in the 3A Rochelle Regional Final Thursday night.
"We had a rough night," said head coach Amanda Carlson. "We struggled and I'm not sure why. We struggled serving, we struggled passing, we really had to dig deep and credit to Rochelle. They came out super aggressive and they were confident and they just caught us on our heels. Once we put together our serving, that's what I think really helped us break free."
Sophomore Rachel Scott led the way for North with five kills and seven aces.
"It feels so good," said Scott. "We worked so hard this week in practice and of course during the season to work this hard and work to this point. After Tuesday, we knew we had such a good chance and it feels so great."
The Thunder will meet Kaneland in the 3A Crystal Lake South Sectional Semifinals on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
