Bazsali steps down, Diduch in at Guilford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) After just a few days of practice, Bruce Bazsali is stepping down at Guilford and new assistant Denny Diduch has become the Vikings new head coach.

Bazsali will still work as an assistant as he wants to focus on his health. He approached Guilford's administration late last week and suggested the switch to Diduch.

Bazsali leaves the program after only one season in charge where Guilford went 4-5 in the NIC-10.

Bazsali previously coached at Lutheran for eight years where the Crusaders went 53-24.

This was supposed to be Diduch's first year as an assistant with the Vikings after spending a decade with Forreston.

“It’s perfect timing,” Bazsali said. “Denny is really a top-notch person and a top-notch coach.”

The new Vikes coach went 87-27 with the Cardinals and led them to two state championships in 2014 and 2016.

Guilford Athletic Director Augie Toldo said Diduch was picked because of his past coaching experience.
