Baker hangs on for medalist honors, Boylan wins NIC-10 title

POPLAR GROVE, Ill. (WIFR) Blustery conditions resulted in ballooned scores on Saturday as Timber Pointe Golf Club proved to be a challenge in the elements over the two-day NIC-10 boys tournament.

Boylan senior TJ Baker held off Auburn's Adam Kuhar to win medalist honors by one stroke as the Titans finished a perfect conference season to win the team title.

Freeport's Deven Stewart finished in third with a two-day score of 153, three strokes back of Baker.

Belvidere North's Bennett Baker and Nate Lendman finished fourth and fifth respectively and helped the Blue Thunder take fourth as a team.

Hononegah finished in second as a team led by Alex Cortez (157) and Adam He (157).

The boys now turn their attention to regionals on Monday, October 7.
