Auburn boys tennis dominates, wins 2A Sectional crown at Harlem

MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WIFR) -- Auburn boys tennis has been on a mission all season. First, it was conference, now it's sectionals.

The Knights took home the 2A Harlem Sectional crown with 30 team points. Hampshire finished in second with 19, Hononegah took third with 17 and Belvidere North and Guilford tied with 10 in fourth.

It was an all-Auburn final in the singles tournament. Junior Quinten Nevenhoven defeated freshman teammate Chris Park, 6-0, 6-1.

In the doubles final, Guilford's Adam Gesmer and Cole Kampmier edged out Auburn's Will Snedegar and Glenn Dusing, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5.

The IHSA State meet takes place next weekend, May 24-26 at Hersey High School in Arlington Heights.
