Area football players put their skills to the test at 7v7 tournament

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) The National Football Association 7v& Midwest Regional Championship took place this weekend at MercyHealth Sportscore Two.

It's the fourth straight year the tournament has been held in the Rockford area. 32 high school teams compete for a chance to play at nationals. This year, two squads represented the Stateline, The Northern Illinois Conference Elite and the Northern Illinois 815. The 815 squad is a new team to the area and was excited to make its tournament debut.

"It's a chance to come out here and compete against some great talent," said Northern Illinois 815 head coach and founder Billy Cook. "Get our guys some exposure, come out here and play football and have fun."

"It's actually pretty fun, to come out and play against these other teams," said East senior Kalen Dismuke. "See who's the best, play with my teammates and have fun. (Maybe) try to get a scholarship or something."
