Ambrogio leaves Jefferson football for Lutheran

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) After two seasons as Jefferson football's head coach, Tony Ambrogio has been hired to take over the same position at Lutheran.

Ambrogio led the J-Hawks to a 1-17 record in 2017 and 2018 and previously coached at Christian Life for four years where the Eagles went 26-14 with three playoff appearances.

"Working as a head football coach and athletic director at a faith based private school and a head football coach and a student athletic coordinator at a large public school has prepared me for the opportunity at Rockford Lutheran," said Ambrogio. "I'm very excited to be a part of the Rockford Lutheran community. I hope to have continued success on the football field. We build our program upon a strong Christian foundation and mold our young men into outstanding community members; teaching life lessons through the game of football."

The Crusaders missed out on the playoffs the last two years under Chuck Leonard where they went 3-15.
