Crumb Top Apple Pie


1 9" deep dish pie shell, unbaked
3 to 4 cups apples, peeled, cored and sliced
1 stick butter, divided
1 cup sugar, divided
1 TBSP cinnamon
1/2 cup flour


Arrange apple slices in the pie shell, filling it very full and mounding in the center. Dot about 3 TBSP butter over the top. Sprinkle with 3/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Blend the remaining butter, sugar and flour to form crumbs. Sprinkle evenly over the top. Bake in a preheated 350 deg oven about
45 minutes or until the top is nicely browned and the juices which you will see boiling up are very thick. If the top starts to brown too soon, tent lightly with aluminum foil. Serve warm with cheddar cheese or ice cream.
