Name released of off-duty Rockford officer, victim in vehicular assault

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) -- Updated: Jan. 31, 2019, 12:45 p.m.

Assistant Deputy Chief Carla Redd was the victim of vehicle assault in Rockford earlier this month, police announced Thursday.

Redd is a 20-year veteran of the Rockford Police Department. She was off-duty on Jan. 20 when a car rammed into her car in the area of Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue in Rockford.

According to previous reports, shots were fired at the suspect vehicle after Redd's car had been struck. She was treated at a hospital after the incident as a precaution.

The Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force continues to investigate the incident independently.

An off-duty Rockford police officer is at the hospital after a vehicle rammed into his vehicle.

It happened in the area of Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue in Rockford. Investigators say around 6:30 p.m., the officer fired shots at a suspect vehicle after it rammed into the officer's vehicle.

The officer was taken to the hospital out of precaution. There aren't any known injuries right now.

The Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force is investigating the incident.
