Women learn self defense & safety procedures to protect themselves

LOVES PARK, Ill. (WIFR) -- With the recent women who have gone missing the past couple of months, No Joke Mixed Martial Arts' holds an exclusive Women's Fight Fitness and Safety Class to help women learn how to protect themselves from potentially dangerous situations.

This class helps women learn self-defense, establish strong fitness habits, and develop discipline. No Joke Mixed Martial Arts’ says their goal is to give women a place to learn about situational self-defense, and different techniques for fighting so they know how to throw a punch if they would need to for worst case scenario situations. The instructor Leslie Stoll says the repetition of throwing punches and kicks is really critical to being a survivor.

“We all need to be aware of what's going on out there because something can happen to any of us at any time. So we want people here so that Rockford can be a safer place because if we can teach 6 women one day and another 6 the next day how to be aware of your surroundings, and how to defend yourself, and how to look around the corner before you go, and how to leave the store with your keys in your hand, then Rockford’s going to be a better place," says No Joke Mixed Martial Arts’ Instructor, Leslie Stoll.

This exclusive women's class is taught every Saturday morning at 9 and coed classes are taught every day except Sundays.
